Before the 20th century brought all sorts of modernizations to the city of Chiang Mai, a rich old kingdom stood on this mountainous province. If you look close enough, the sites and structures of this history can still be seen today. At its highest point, known as the “Roof of Thailand,” you’ll find a majestic peak filled with natural trails, waterfalls and wildlife still untouched by the bustle of the metropolis below. This is the Doi Inthanon Natural Park(as featured in our blog Listen to the Sounds of Nature in Doi Inthanon National Park), situated along the Himalayan mountain range with elevation levels between 800 to 2,565 meters. You can definitely expect weather to get chillier up there.
A couple of hours away from the city, the tour will take you through the hill tribes and villages on the way to the summit. Hike along the short boardwalk of Ang Ka Luang Nature Trail (366 meters, 30 min) and get up close and personal with the park’s lush rainforest. If you want to linger longer, choose the Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail, which takes you through breath-taking vistas up top (2.78 km, 1 hr 30 min).
Endemic species of flora include mix teaks and pines, while animals native to the area include 362 species of birds, numerous species of bats, wild boars, gibbons and deer. Make your way around the cloud forest and at the end you’ll pass by the two historical chedis (stupas) built in honor of the king and queen.
Enjoy the serenity and embrace your distance from the urban landscape. Situated near the Ban Khun Klang village of the Hmong hill tribe, there are a few restaurants, a market and an ATM near the Doi Inthanon HQ. Macadamia nuts and fresh produce are sold at a bargain at these spots.

leader of it accommodated my tough situation, well done.
Our trip was great! Our tour guide was very informative and gave us a lot of new information we didn’t know about Thailand. The travel was comfy in an air conditioned van and we were kept busy all day with all the activities that were planned for us. Great way to meet some new people and experience Thailand.
It was nice. But I did not realize that it was a tour that people could book off of the website. When I check the site here it says that the only people booked were me and my family. Then I found out it was a full tour. Would have been nice to know.
Great tour! The guide was knowledgeable and spoke very good English.
This place was insanely beautiful! You trekked through jungle first and got up to the Summit, never miss the view there, you will absolutely want to go again! And thanks to our guide who speaks really good English and provided help all the time, great trip highly recommend!

My favorite part about the day was getting to hear about culture and history tidbit from our tour guide Maem! She did such an amazing job. The weather was kinda bad for the day, but she made it fun and informative.
Awesome day! Fresh air and wonderful nature, bring some windproof clothes, don’t miss the breathtaking summit!
Our guide was attentive the whole time, lead us to this masterpiece done by nature, quiet and peaceful when you trek in the jungle, also can not forget the amazing view when reached the “Thailand Roof”, I will definitely visited here a second time!

Absolutely the highlight of our trip, feel so relaxed and refreshing surrounded by the jungle. This amazing place is so worth to visit. Stroooongly recommended!
I promised myself that when I visit Thailand again, I'll do something different. And when I saw this tour, I knew that I just had to book it. I've always been a city girl, even in my country, but nothing beats the serenity of being one with nature. Walking around the forest did wonders for my health as well.
This tour was the perfect activity to take a break from the city. I was in Chiang Mai to do business, and I got tired being in the heart of it all. Changing the scenery from the crowded streets to lush vegetation was a great way to cleanse and clear my mind.
Beautiful! I have no other words to say but beautiful! There is no way that there is a place like this in where I live. There's nothing like spending a day surrounded with nothing but nature. This tour was a freat way to get away from the noises of the city.
