Discover Koh Rong - Sihanoukville
Visiting a tropical country is never complete without spending a relaxing day in the beach. Although beaches are known to be a popular hideaway for tourists, it is still the best spot to feel the sun tenderly brush your skin whilst being wrapped with the soothing sounds of the to and fro of the waters. In the city of Sihanoukville, Cambodia, there are a lot of islands and beaches that boasts its tropical features, but nothing is as gorgeous or as heavenly as the shores of Koh Rong.
Koh Rong is the largest island of Cambodia. Don’t let the size bother your stay because unlike a lot of beaches, majority of Koh Rong has not yet been heavily touched by modern development. Visitors will surely feel relaxed and at ease once they feel the warm sand tickle their toes, and even if there are a handful of resorts sprawled across the area, the best way to spend the day is listen to the wind rustle the thatched roofs of the bungalows. Though its main selling point is to remove people from the stresses of the city, there are still a lot of activities waiting for them in store. Travelers can visit the local minimarts and eateries, and get a chance to imagine what the locals do and eat, or interact with the villagers living nearby. Snorkeling, diving, and phosphorescent night swimming, are also very popular activities, which gives visitors the opportunity to experience Cambodia’s lush marine life firsthand.
Koh Rong may have a few establishments, some of which offer wi-fi access, but Trip Guru would like to remind potential visitors that not all luxuries are available on the island. For instance, there is no ATM nearby. The best thing to do is to bring enough cash with you, so that you can fully enjoy your stay in Koh Rong. It always pays to be prepared.
To get to Koh Rong, travelers can take a fast boat from Sihanoukville’s Serendipity Beach Pier. The schedule of departure is as follows, 8:30AM (back by 9:30AM), 11:00AM (back by 12:00PM), and 3:00PM (back by 4:00PM). Tickets will cost around $10 for a one way trip.
