About
Many a traveler has called this camel ride “one of the best Marrakech experiences” to be had. If you’re skipping the Sahara Desert this time around, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on this quintessential North African experience! Allow us to take you to an oasis no more than 30 minutes north of the city for an unforgettable trip on these “ships of the desert”.
“We had a super peaceful and fun ride through the palm groves. Altogether a fun, relaxing time, with great pictures! Well worth it!” — Chandrae, Sydney, Australia
After traveling by car from your hotel, we’ll take you to La Palmeraie, named for its 150,000 palm trees. Here you will change into traditional Moroccan outfits not just for photos’ sake, but also to protect you from the harsh sun in these parts. You’ll both look and feel as part of the desert nomads that journey through the Sahara for several months at a time.
The Bedouin camel leaders will introduce you to your “humpback” for the day. You’ll mount them while they’re seated, before they rise high off the ground! There’s no experience quite like it, nothing at all like riding a horse. It definitely feels much safer though, as you’ll sink into a comfortable saddle that embeds you safely atop.
For an hour and a half, your camel parade will amble at measured pace strung together in a queue. The calm pace is known to bring a sense of great tranquility as you pass palm trees and see local villagers about their tasks, with birdsong and open skies overhead.
After the ride, enjoy a fresh mint tea to prepare you for the drive back to Marrakech.
“The ride stands out as one of the most beautiful and unforgettable experiences of our visit.” — Jonathan Blake, London, UK
