About
Most food tours consist of guides bringing you from one restaurant or food kiosk to another. In this Cappadocia food tour, we’ll not only bring you to traditional and amazing places to eat, we’ll also show you the history and culture behind the delicious food you’ll be enjoying.
First things first, coffee (or tea)! Sip on some aromatic Turkish coffee in a favorite local haunt with some fantastic views. After we’ve got some caffeine in our systems, we’ll visit a local fruit and vegetable market. (Note: This is only open on Tuesday, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.) Feel free to try out any fresh produce you’d like.
Up next, we’ll head to Ortahisar where we’ll visit caves that were used in ancient times as food storage. Back then refrigerators didn’t exist and these caves were what acted as nature’s refrigerator.
We’ll have lunch in a beloved traditional restaurant which serves authentic and home-cooked meals. Babayanevi is one of the few restaurants in the area that has a traditional tandoori oven. After lunch, we’ll head to the farm where ingredients for the restaurant are grown.
“Best restaurant in all of Turkey. The food is authentic and homemade. The meal is cooked with love and we cannot wait to go back. The food is over the top delicious. This is a must try if you’re in Cappadocia.” – The Traveling Bloke, USA
Then we’ll have some free time to explore the tranquil village of Ibrahimpasa before heading to the Ortahisar Viewpoint. This vantage point boasts brilliant, panoramic 360-degree views of the town all the way to Uchisar and Goreme.
“The view is beautiful just like the pictures. Would recommend going while visiting Cappadocia.” – Nicole, Turkey
After taking some amazing photos of the view, we’ll end the day with a sumptuous wine tasting before heading back to your accommodations with your bellies stuffed with tasty and unforgettable food.
