About
The charming city of Chiang Mai is a mix of atmospheric temples and sleepy streets. There’s nowhere quite like it, which is why we’re taking you exploring to see the city’s best temples with a knowledgeable guide. During this morning or afternoon tour, we’ll hit up the following stops:
Wat Phra Singh: The holiest temple in Chiang Mai after Doi Suthep, this 700-year-old religious site is often described as the most beautiful in the city. Inside you’ll find an enormous ‘Lion Buddha’, as well as gilded pagodas, murals and statues – all of utmost importance to the Thai people.
Wat Chedi Luang: This large Buddhist temple in the heart of Chiang Mai is one of the city’s most famous locations. The enormous crumbling chedi built in 1441 is surrounded by striking elephant and serpent statues. These snake-like animals are known as nagas: mythical creatures who guard temples of great value!
“Lovely temple packed with history” — Niko, Argentina
Wat Suan Dok: Countless white stupas and a backdrop of Doi Suthep mountain make this one of the city’s most attractive temples, thus deserving a place on our Chiang Mai Temple Tour! It’s thought that a tooth from the Buddha himself is enclosed at the temple’s heart. Let your experienced guide show you around and fill you in on the history.
Wat Chiang Man: We’ll finish the tour at Chiang Mai’s oldest temple dating back to 1296. The gleaming gold chedi is seriously impressive, but we think you’ll also love the atmospheric flower garden which doubles as a fantastic photo spot. After we’ve finished this Chiang Mai temple tour, we’ll transfer you back to your accommodation to cool down and sort through your photos.
“One of the oldest temples and a must-visit in Chiang Mai. Lovely temple and surroundings” — Fenny, UAE
