About
Discover the history and culture of the ancient Mayan civilization in this full day tour that will start off with an early exploration of the Chichen Itza ruins, followed by a quick tour of the quaint town of Piste, and a dip in Cenote Ik Kil.
We’ll start our adventure with an early pick up from Cancun and/or Playa del Carmen. This will allow us to beat the crowds and the heat once we arrive at the ancient ruins of Chichen Itza. We’ll go on a guided tour of the once bustling complex, learning about the rich history, religion, culture, and daily life of the Maya.
“The fact that the Maya built this place with nothing but stone tools is amazing. Spent some time seeing the pyramid, the ball court, and the carvings on the wall. Now I understand why this was chosen as one of the new seven wonders of the world!” – Willy, USA
Following our informational walk around the Mexican pyramids, you’ll have some free time to wander around, gazing at the spectacular stone carvings, and taking photos by the glorious steps of the ruins. Then we’ll board our comfortable air-conditioned vehicle and leave right before the morning gets too warm and the crowds increase.
We’ll head to the charming town of Piste and have a quick look around before we make our way to Cenote Ik Kil. Archaeologists claim that this natural pit and sinkhole was once a place used by the Maya to pray to the rain god Chaac. We’ll marvel at its stunning views, take photos of the turquoise waters and lush vegetation, and maybe squeeze in a quick dip before going for lunch.
“Gorgeous cenote! We stopped here before going to Chichen Itza and it has been my favorite cenote so far!! The water is nice and cool and there are lots of little fish swimming with you.” – Nikki, USA
After filling our bellies with some local food, we’ll board our vehicle once more and make our way back to Cancun and Riviera Maya with nothing but knowledge and memories to remember our adventure by.
