About
While most people know Mexico City as the bustling capital of the country, its sister city Guadalajara is not one to be forgotten either. As the second-largest city in the country, Guadalajara boasts a melting pot of colorful history, contemporary culture, and iconic heritage. Join this full-day trip to explore the best sights in the city!
Start the day at mid-morning with a smooth pick-up from your accommodation. We’ll head to downtown Guadalajara, known for its colonial-style buildings and famous landmarks, and visit Guadalajara Cathedral and Expiatory Church, both built in the neo-Gothic style. We’ll admire the craftsmanship and fine details of the churches before moving on to our next stop.
“There are so many photos of this cathedral because it absolutely dominates the center of Guadalajara. Despite the overexposure, it does not disappoint. It is a beautiful building and is still actively used as a church. The ceiling is wonderful to look at. Definitely a must-see!.” – Daniel, USA
Next up is the Degollado Theater, a neoclassical Mexican theater known for its artistic architecture. After marveling at the design, we’ll head to the Rotonda of the Illustrious People of Jalisco. This mausoleum serves as a tribute to the important men and women in the history of the state of Jalisco.
We’ll head to Avenida Vallarta next, where we’ll visit the Minerva Roundabout. This features a large statue of the Roman goddess with indigenous facial features, surrounded by a circular fountain. We’ll also visit Arcos Vallarta and Arcos del Milenio, two iconic structures in the city that serve as great backdrops for photos.
“The Arcos Vallarta is a great recreation of the original city gates at the western entrance to the city.” – Tyagi, USA
After that, we’ll pass the stately buildings of Expo Guadalajara and World Trade Center GDL before we head to Avenida Chapultepec and Avenida Libertad, to view a few grand mansions that date back to the late 1800s.
