About
The northern coast is one of Taiwan’s most beautiful and interesting areas, characterised by old gold mining villages that tell tales of the country’s rich history. Meanwhile, the unique countryside is shaped by volcanic activities and powerful ocean erosion. Both sides to Taiwan are important to see during your visit – hence, we’ll take you exploring the best of both worlds. Get set for the following stops:
Jiufen Village: This ex-gold mining village surrounded by mountain scenery will be the first stop of the afternoon. Explore charming alleyways and quaint tea houses famous for their intricate interiors and locally-sourced brews.
‘‘The small and very beautiful Jiufen Village is one of the most attractive destinations in Taiwan’’ — Travelsomnia
Golden Waterfall: Connected to the Pacific Ocean and Yin-Yang sea, this impressive waterfall makes for an essential photo stop. They say the golden cliffside almost glitters, earning it the name!
Nanya Rock: Look out over bizarre rock patterns as we drive one of Taiwan’s most famous roads. Thousands of years of coastal erosion have caused these rock formations to resemble other-worldly cone shapes, quite unlike anything you’ll have seen before.
‘‘From the Viewing Deck, a breathtaking view of the rock formations will greet you. It’s amazing!’’ — Pinoy Adventurista
The Bay of Two Colours: Just as it says on the tin, this picturesque bay is made up of contrasting blue and yellow waters. Not only is it stunning to view and photograph, but the Taiwanese relate it to all-important yin and yang.
Jinguashi 13 Ruins: These abandoned ruins dating back to the gold-mining era have a surreal feel and have been featured in several music videos. We’ll swing by for photos before heading back to Taipei.
