About
The Great Ocean Road is one of the world’s most popular drives, peppered with unique natural features and areas of cultural and historical significance. The only downside is that it’s no hidden gem: countless tourists make the pilgrimage each day. For that reason, we’ve come up with a savvy solution: cruising the coastline in reverse, making the same iconic stops but without the crowds. During the day, we’ll stop at:
Shipwreck Coast: This stretch of coastline runs for 130km, encompassing stunning views of the limestone rock formations that tower out of the ocean.
12 Apostles: Formed by Mother Nature, these otherworldly towers are the most famous sight from the Great Ocean Road. The remaining seven stand side by side, making for iconic photo opportunities.
‘‘Wonderful scenery and rock formations. Definitely recommended!’ — Azamer, Kuala Lumpur
Loch Ard Gorge: Just a few minutes from the 12 Apostles, this unique scenic area is a memorial to the ship that came ashore after its three-month voyage from England. Of the 54 crew members, tragically only two survived. This stunning beach with its craggy limestone cliffs is typical of the Great Ocean Road region.
Gibson Steps: Walk the 86 steps carved into the cliffside and admire the beautiful beach at the bottom. These ancient steps were originally used by the Kirrae Whurrong aboriginal people.
Otway Ranges Rainforest Walk: Relax in the cool climate of this temperate rainforest full of towering Eucalyptus, tree ferns, birdlife and wild koalas. Your guide will keep their eyes peeled for movement in the trees!
‘‘Winding roads, amazing tropical forests, spectacular landscapes.’’ — Nedelak, Canada
Memorial Arch: This wooden arch weighing 50 tons was erected in honour of the 3,000 soldiers who helped build the Great Ocean Road during WWI. The iconic arch has been rebuilt multiple times following bushfires.
