About
Thanks to its UNESCO status, the charming city of Hoi An is renowned near and far. Once a strategic port city hosting the spice and tea trade throughout Asia, this charming city was ruled by French, Chinese and Japanese during its turbulent history. Nowadays, it’s known for quaint buildings, cosy teahouses and lantern festivals down by the river. Let’s explore the best of Hoi An as we make the following stops:
Hoi An Market: The locals wake early, hence our first stop is the colourful local market. Here you’ll browse fresh fruit, veggies and seafood, locally harvested the same morning. There’s no better place to soak up the local culture!
Assembly Hall: Hoi An is home to several elaborate Chinese and Japanese assembly halls, each built and decorated in traditional style. Your guide will explain the history and help you capture some gorgeous photos.
Pottery Museum: To learn about the town’s flourishing ceramics industry, we’ll swing by a traditional pottery museum where you can watch locals at work.
“There is something in Hoi An for everyone… a quaint, old town perfect for strolling, shopping, and dining!” — Earth Trekkers
Japanese Covered Bridge: Everyone’s favourite spot in Hoi An is the elegant pink Japanese Bridge built to divide the city during the Japanese occupation. While it was once a symbol of separation, it’s now a beloved spot for both tourists and locals.
“With a distinct French influence and local Vietnamese beauty, Hoi An is one of those destinations that seems other-worldly.” — Phoebe, Little Grey Box
Handicraft tour: We’ll finish our morning adventure with a handicraft tour of Hoi An. You’ll learn how the locals make a living and shop for colourful souvenirs if you want.
