About
If you’ve done all there is to do in Chiang Mai and taken trips to Doi inthanon and Doi Suthep, you might be wondering what else there is to do in the region. The answer is the sleepy province of Lamphun, known for its authentic local life and lesser-visited (yet no less impressive) temples.
After departing Chiang Mai, we’ll arrive at Lamphun where we’ll enjoy a horse and cart ride, then explore the main sights. These include
Prathat Lampang Luang Temple: Dating back to the 13th century, this revered temple is highly important to Buddhists. It’s thought that the Buddha himself visited here 2,500 years ago and left behind a single hair which is now encased inside a relic. ‘Til today it tops any list of things to do in Lampang
“Wat Phra That in Lamphang is truly a ‘must see’... bask in the flow of curiosity, and calm, and color, and architecture, and grand setting that is Phra That!” — David, Texas (USA)
Hariphun Chai Temple: This giant gold stupa dating back to the 11th century can be seen from afar. It’s just as impressive once you get up close thanks to the detailed carvings and serene flower gardens.
“This is a fabulous temple, on par with Doi Suthep. It’s very worth a half day trip... complex is more peaceful and serene than you are likely to find in more tourist heavy areas.” — Justin, Shanghai (China)
Jamdevi Temple: Locally known as Wat Ku Kut, this stone temple built in Ayutthaya style is surrounded by 60 standing Buddha statues. Visited by only a handful of tourists a day, this is the perfect place to feel at peace and snap impressive photos with no one in the way!
Wat Phra Chedi Sao Lang: Literally translated to ‘Monastery of twenty stupas’, Was Phra Chedi Sao Lang is said to be over a thousand years old. This cluster of 20 Lanna and Burmese style pagodas also houses a 15th century solid gold Buddha image.
Once our Ancient Lamphun and Haripunchai tour is complete, we’ll transfer you back to Chaing Mai.
