About

Ready for a once-in-a-lifetime experience? It can’t get much better than snowmobiling across an icy glacier in Iceland’s geothermal region. Coated in a vast layer of ice almost 600m thick, it’s the second largest glacier in the country and widely considered the most beautiful.

‘‘An out of this world experience exploring the second largest glacier in Iceland!’’Ganlt, USA

With this action-packed tour from Reykjavik, you’ll get to take the wheel of a snowmobile and navigate across the surface of an icy glacier. We’ll pick you up from your Reykjavik hotel and travel by bus to Langjökull. There, we’ll kit you out with the right equipment and teach you how to operate the snowmobile. After that, it’s time for the fun bit: driving across the vast icy landscape!

Following the wild ride, we’ll head into the glacier on foot. During this walking tour with our experienced guide, learn about how this majestic glacier was made and snap some photos inside the unique icy tunnel.

Before the tour’s up, we’ll head to Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe with 180 litres of water flowing through it every second. We’ll also visit Hraunfossar Waterfall, a unique series of cascades flowing out of what was once a lava field trapped below a glacier.

After checking out Barnafoss Waterfall, flanked by lava rolls and snowy peaks, we’ll return to your accommodation in Reykjavik. What a day!
