About
If the season is right and the weather permits, one of the must-see things in Cappadocia is the Zelve Mapping Light Show. Step into a world of wonder and enchantment as you witness a 30-minute captivating spectacle held within the heart of the Zelve Open Air Museum. Experience technology and artistry intertwine as cutting-edge project techniques bring the ancient fairy chimneys to life, painting a vivid tapestry of Cappadocia’s rich history and culture.
You can also choose to make the most out of your evening by catching a glimpse of the gorgeous sunset views at the Red Valley viewpoint. This popular hiking area features sandstone rocks that turn a gorgeous shade of red as the sun sets. If Red Valley is crowded (especially during national holidays), we can also head to Devrent Valley, which features towering rock formations that can be interpreted to form animal shapes. We’ll watch the sunset from the valley and soak up the stunning views.
“I had read about going to see the sunset so we made an effort to do that. All I can say is wow. The scenery was stunning. A must-do for sunset!” – Becky
After watching the sun coat the sky with a multitude of brilliant colors, we’ll stop by Ortahisar Panorama, Pigeon Valley Panorama, Uchisar Castle, Goreme Esentepe Panorama, and Cavusin to take some photos and capture the beauty of these landscapes at night.
We’ll end the evening with a light show at Zelve Open Air Museum. This unique show uses computers with mapping software which are then projected onto the caves and rock formations at the Zelve Valley. The exhibition depicts the story and history of the human race, specifically the Assyrian, Hittite, Persian, and Alexandria civilizations up until the development of the modern republic of Turkey. If the weather does not permit a light show, we’ll head to a local restaurant and dine on delicious local fare with some live music entertainment. (Note: You can choose the option to go to the Zelve Mapping Light Show only.)
“It's more or less a sound and light experience of Turkey’s history through the ages but with cutting edge technology. A great experience.” – SV, UK
