Ready for the experience of a lifetime? Whale watching is on many people’s bucket lists, yet not everyone can say they’ve glimpsed these majestic mammals in their natural environment. We’ll give it our best shot as we take you exploring off the coast of Mirissa, well-renowned as one of the world’s top whale watching destinations.

After an early morning pick-up to ensure the best chance of seeing these beauties, we’ll depart from Mirissa Fishery Harbour by boat. An experienced guide will use their beady eyes to check for white-tipped plumes of water, the first telltale sign that a whale could be about to breach.

Make like Chris Hemsworth in Heart of the Sea and try your luck spotting these awe-inspiring marine mammals, whether whale or dolphin. Fingers crossed we’ll see a whole bunch, and more likely so during peak season from November to April. Until you’ve experienced whales in the wild, you’ll have no idea how majestic (and enormous!) these creatures actually are.

Did you know that a blue whale’s tongue alone can weigh as much as an elephant? They can also measure up to 30 metres in length. Not only does this make them incredibly impressive, it means they’re pretty easy to spot even from a distance. Once we’ve spent four hours cruising the Sri Lankan coastline, we’ll return to the harbour, then your accommodation. Sit back and let’s go on an adventure!
