About
As the home of sushi and wagyu, Japan is a global culinary giant, and Osaka is at the heart of it. The city’s nickname is none other than “Tenka no Daidokoro” in Japanese: “the nation's kitchen”. There’s nothing more authentic you could do in Kansai than explore its heart and soul: the cuisine. Hop on a morning bike tour with us and we’ll take you to the beat eats whilst sightseeing as we go along.
The tour will last approximately 3 hours covering a distance of around 11km (don’t worry, it’s mostly flat!). We’ll skip the tourist trap that is Kuromon Market and head to the streets for the real experience.
At Shinsekai, we’ll uncover a fascinating old neighborhood close to downtown "Minami" district. It was designed in 1912 with New York as the prototype for the southern half and Paris for the north. Just wait ‘till you see it!
Our local guide will then take us to the markets that Osakans actually visit, and we’ll do a curated tasting with the following sample menu:
Street Oden: One of the oldest Japanese 'fast foods', a winter ‘one-pot’ dish
Chijimi Pancakes: Scallion pancakes whose spicy versions are more common in Korea, closely related to the okonomiyaki pancake!
Flame Grilled Wagyu Beef: Perfectly marbled, need we say more?
Kushikatsu: Deep-fried skewered meat and vegetables (a cousin of the tempura)
Fresh Sushi: The fisherman’s catch of the day, straight from Osaka Central Fish Market!
“It was brilliant. An easy and pretty ride around town, punctuated with tons of stops to eat and try new things. I tried some foods I would definitely not have eaten on my own, and some I’ll be returning to ASAP! Great host and nice small group with a really friendly, chilled vibe. Would absolutely recommend!” — Eliza, United Kingdom
