About
“Being able to snorkel so close to these enormous, harmless creatures is something you will never forget. It was the most incredible experience.” – Mrs Gordo, Australia
Despite the awful rap it’s gotten over the past few years due to a rapid increase in popularity, swimming with the whale sharks in Oslob can still be an awe-inspiring experience if you do it the right way. We propose to take you on a journey from Cebu/Mactan early in the morning to interact with the “largest fish in the sea, reaching lengths of 40 feet or more.”
Per new policy, feeding the butanding – whale sharks in native speak – must stop by 12 noon so that they can leave to search for other natural food sources. Hence, we must get there by around 8am to register. After that, we will be briefed on safety procedures, code of conduct, and everything else you need to know surrounding the day’s activities. Then we will collect our gear: snorkelling equipment, mask, life jackets, etc. When it’s our turn to get on the boat, 30 minutes of magic in the water will ensue!
“Environmental tourism with animals will never be perfect. Perfect is to leave an animal alone in the wild. But there needs to be an opportunity to combine a successful tourism economy for a local community to respect and preserve these animals.” – Jackson Groves, JourneyEra
After the once-in-a-lifetime experience, we will head to the nearby Tumalog Falls, a breath-taking multi-tiered cascade of fresh, cool water. Swim, freshen up, or cliff jump to your heart’s desire before we head back towards Cebu/Mactan to wrap up the day’s adventure.
