About
One of the most popular day trips from Melbourne is to Phillip Island, a spectacular landmass off the south coast of Australia.
Animal lovers can delight at the sight of 32,000 penguins which take to the shores in time for sunset, not to mention the cuddly koalas at Maru Koala and Animal Park! Nature fans will also be in their element thanks to extensive walking trails and dreamy ocean views...
Since the Penguin Parade takes place at sunset, you’ll have time for a lie in before we depart Melbourne for Phillip Island. During the afternoon, we’ll visit Maru Koala and Animal Park where you’ll spy famous Aussie animals including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, dingo, emu, parrots, wombats, crocs and more!
‘‘Staff were genuine, knowledgeable and caring of their animals, giving a home to some that would never survive if released into the wild.’’ — Margie, Australia
We’ll also stop at Cape Woolamai Surf Beach, a 4.2km stretch of sand famed for its swimming and surfing opportunities. After some time to soak up the sights and breathe in fresh ocean air, we’ll walk the boardwalks of The Nobbies, an ecotourism spot offering unrivalled views of the coast.
Finally, it’ll be time for the finale: the awe-inspiring Penguin Parade! As the sun sets, we’ll watch as countless penguins waddle the sands, almost as if by clockwork. You’ll pick up some fun facts from your tour guide before we head back to Melbourne.
‘‘The scenery is gorgeous and watching these cute and timid guys waddle up over the rocks to find their burrow homes was amazing!’’ — Helen, Australia
