About
Many people think of Phuket as a launching point for the Phi Phi Islands or simply a spot for nightlife, but it would be an error not to explore this well-preserved part of Thailand. It’s one of the only places in the country you can tour pretty pastel Peranakan Chinese houses, much like the famous ones in Singapore.
While the charming buzz of Phuket Old Town makes for an experience in itself, the surrounding countryside is peppered with viewpoints, temples and other spots of interest. We’ll pick you up bright and early for a morning in the region, stopping at the following destinations:
Karon Viewpoint: Picture this - unobstructed views of the ocean, a cool sea breeze and majestic eagles swooping for fish. The Karon Viewpoint is the most scenic spot in Phuket, and the good news is we’re taking you there before the crowds arrive!
Big Buddha: Also known as The Great Buddha of Phuket, this 45-metre statue can be seen as far away as Phuket Town. However, it’s best marvelled at from below so we’ll take you up-close during this Phuket city tour. The Buddhist structure is of utmost importance to locals who come from miles around to donate food, money and pray for their loved ones.
‘‘This is such a beautiful place. Just to sit and take in the view is an experience in itself!’’ — Shellden, Australia
Chalong Temple: Of Phuket’s 29 temples, Chalong is deemed the most important. Many visitors compare the impressive spire to a cathedral but it’s, in fact, a Buddhist place of worship characterised by its gold exterior and artwork pictorialising the Buddha’s life. The perfect place to add a little learning to your Phuket trip!
Phuket Old Town: Next, an unmissable photo stop while touring Phuket. The yellow, orange, blue and green Strait’s houses of Phuket Old Town were built by Peranakan settlers from China. We’ll take a few moments to learn about these early peoples and snap a few Insta-worthy photos in the process.
‘‘Vital historical buildings where people are living and shops and restaurants are open. Go see it!’’ — Jano, Slovakia
Cashewnut and honey farm: Time to treat your sweet tooth after a busy morning of sightseeing. Southern Thailand is the perfect climate for growing cashew nuts and farming honey so we’ll swing by a couple of factories so you can sample the local produce. Afterwards, we'll drop you back at your accommodation.
