For those looking to spend a day of adventure and adrenaline in Northern Thailand, why not rappel down a 100-meter limestone waterfall in Wang Thong? Abseiling, or rappelling, is the experience of descending from a steep slope, often with a rope coiled around the body. It’s not the usual Chiang Mai itinerary, and that’s exactly why you’re going to want to do it. How many times do you get to jump off the side of a mountain, pushed down by the force of a gushing waterfall into a clear, cool lagoon in a foreign country anyway?
Chiang Mai is located on one of the highest mountains in Thailand, right smack in the middle of lush forests and trailing rivers. The 100-meter waterfall in Wang Thong is itself located in a dense, tropical jungle that's surrounded by tall and short trees in a delicate, natural ecosystem. Don’t worry. Even if you’ve never done it elsewhere before, the waterfalls is a good site for beginners.
From your hotel in the city, prepare to take a scenic trip into the wilderness. With your trusty guides, listen in on a safety talk on how to use all the rappelling equipment. Trek towards the abseiling point and test your courage from the 100-meter-high site, then rappel down the waterfall. A natural pool awaits the adrenaline junkie at the bottom, where you can enjoy a much-deserved lounge in the relaxing waters.

I was a complete beginner, but the guides were very helpful and patient in explaining what to do. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of new friends. Already planning a return trip, I wouldn't mind repeating this experience! Would recommend to all my friends and family.
I went on this trip so that I could be a little braver. Surprisingly I enjoyed the rappel, it wasn't as scary as it looked. I enjoyed diving down into the water and the pool was very clean. It was a lot of fun and though I was apprehensive at first, I can see myself returning for another go. Would recommend to my friends!
