About

If you’ve already explored the ruins of Chichen Itza and have gotten your fill of the best cenotes the Yucatan peninsula has to offer, this full day tour in the Rio Lagartos Biosphere Reserve and the pink lakes of Las Coloradas might just be up your alley!

The day’s adventure will begin with an early pick up from your accommodations in Cancun and Playa del Carmen. From there, we’ll make our way to the busy town of Valladolid for a cup of coffee and a snack.

After our brief pitstop, we’ll head to Rio Lagartos. Once we arrive, we’ll skip the crowds and board a private boat to enjoy the scenery of the reserve on our own. Rio Lagartos is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve home to a rich diversity of landscapes and ecosystems such as mangroves, forests, lagoons, and more.

“My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour... We learned about birds, mangroves, crocodiles and the area in general and how everything works together to form the circle of life. I know much more about the Yucatan now!” –  Joanne, USA

We’ll cruise around the reserve with our friendly guide pointing out the numerous local flora and fauna, maybe even catching glimpses of flamingos, pelicans, sea turtles, and crocodiles to name a few. We’ll also snap a few photos at the Instagrammable pink lakes at Las Coloradas before we stop for lunch and make our way back to your accommodations.

“The pink lakes in the tiny village of Las Coloradas are unbelievable! It should be on everyone's list! Best way to describe this experience is to say it's more like a magical place full of color.” – Mamo, Brazil
