"Saigon has a lot to offer: wonderful shops, fantastic nightlife, and delicious food.’’ – Nomadic Matt
Once the richest and most important city in Indochina, the modern-day city of Ho Chi Minh is a fascinating place to explore. Architectural gems from the French colonial era scatter the landscape while a hectic buzz of scooters and busy backstreets characterise the city.
We believe the early bird catches the worm which is why it’s well worth setting your alarm for an 8am pick up at your accommodation. Travelling aboard the back of your guide’s scooter (the quickest and most fun way to get around!), you’ll have to worry about nothing but sitting back and soaking up the sights as a local would.
First on the agenda will be the stunning Notre Dame Cathedral, inspired by its sister in Paris (if you brushed up on your history, you’ll know all about Vietnam’s links to France during the colonial period). You’ll pick up a wealth of facts from your guide as we continue on to the iconic Central Post Office, City Hall and Opera House. Once you’ve experienced much of the architectural grandeur that Ho Chi Minh has to offer, it’s off to the War Remnants Museum: a real essential for learning about Vietnam’s history and the war that rocked the world.
During the tour we will also stop at a few well-loved local markets. Famous Ben Thanh Market is a favourite for picking up your souvenirs and sampling authentic street food, while local Ban Co Market is the place to experience colourful, local life. Have your cameras at the ready because we’ll also swing by the beautiful Emperor Jade Pagoda. Incense hangs in the air and the pink temple is decorated with hundreds of intricate dragons – you can’t miss this one!
As a wise old prophet once said (probably!), ‘no day is complete without pho’. It’s an ethos we take very seriously and we’ll be ending the tour with a generous portion at a local restaurant. Pho (otherwise known as beef noodle soup) is the most famous Vietnamese dish, and once you try it you’ll understand why!
"Saigon is Vietnam’s most booming up-and-coming city, a place where the action never stops’’ – Mark Wiens
"The best bit about the trip was having my awesome tour guide, Luc! He was so knowledgeable and friendly and answered all my questions. He'd lived in Saigon his whole life so was the perfect person to fill me in on the history. I loved that he went out of his way to think of local spots to take me to based on my interests I'd told him about. The Bun Bo lunch was also delicious! The tour was a really good way to see all of the main Saigon sights in a short space of time - I couldn't fault it!" – Rose Munday

Great day! Not in a hurry and got to know a loooot about local history, culture, war period, the city is amazing with kind people, thanks to our great guide!
Early mornings were made for getting things done, but seeing the city wake up is beautiful, too. Seeing a different side of the city is always beautiful. There's a certain charm in seeing the local shopkeepers set up for business. Riding a motorbike through the quiet streets brings a sense of peace that I would be happy to feel again, very soon.
