About
"Saigon has a lot to offer: wonderful shops, fantastic nightlife, and delicious food.’’ – Nomadic Matt
Once the richest and most important city in Indochina, the modern-day city of Ho Chi Minh is a fascinating place to explore. Architectural gems from the French colonial era scatter the landscape while a hectic buzz of scooters and busy backstreets characterise the city.
We believe the early bird catches the worm which is why it’s well worth setting your alarm for an 8am pick up at your accommodation. Travelling aboard the back of your guide’s scooter (the quickest and most fun way to get around!), you’ll have to worry about nothing but sitting back and soaking up the sights as a local would.
First on the agenda will be the stunning Notre Dame Cathedral, inspired by its sister in Paris (if you brushed up on your history, you’ll know all about Vietnam’s links to France during the colonial period). You’ll pick up a wealth of facts from your guide as we continue on to the iconic Central Post Office, City Hall and Opera House.
Once you’ve experienced much of the architectural grandeur that Ho Chi Minh has to offer, it’s off to the War Remnants Museum: a real essential for learning about Vietnam’s history and the war that rocked the world.
Have your cameras at the ready because we’ll also swing by the beautiful Emperor Jade Pagoda. Incense hangs in the air and the pink temple is decorated with hundreds of intricate dragons – you can’t miss this one!
