National Palace Museum: There are whispers that the origins of this museum began within the walls of Beijing’s Forbidden City in the early 1900s. Today, the National Palace Museum is home to one of the most diverse collections of Chinese art in the world, covering nearly 5,000+ years worth of historical and artistic achievements.

“Full disclosure: I am not a museum person. But I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed some of the displays so much. Worth the visit!” KB, USA

Longshan Temple: Built by Fujian settlers in the early 1700s, this intricately designed and restored temple is our next stop. We’ll take in the impressive structure with elaborate stone and wood carvings and see the varied statues of different deities enshrined in its walls. As one of the largest, oldest, and most well known temples in Taiwan, the Longshan Temple is an absolute must in our itinerary.

National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall: Built as an homage to the Father of Taiwan, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, this memorial hall serves as an educational, research, and cultural center for both locals and visitors. We’ll head to the main hall to see the popular changing of the guards by the large statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen.

“Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall is a spectacular and excellent monument with easily digestible historical information and the famous changing of the guard. An impressive testament to Taiwan’s democracy and the evolution of a wonderful society.” Mike, Australia

Taipei 101: Famously known as one of the world’s tallest buildings (it actually held the record of tallest building in the world from 2004-2010), Taipei 101 is a mainstay in the tourist scene. Snap some photos of the iconic green structure, or if you wish, head up to the main observatory to get a bird’s eye view of the city. (Observatory ticket not included).

Din Tai Fung: Can you even say you went to Taiwan without sampling the world-famous Din Tai Fung soup dumplings? There’s a reason the New York Times placed this restaurant in the top 10 best restaurants in the world, and that reason is called xiao long bao. Take your time savoring these popular steamed soup dumplings before calling it a well spent day around town.

“Best soup dumplings! It was delicious! The wait time is totally worth it! A must place to visit when in Taipei” Barov, USA
