About
The mysterious Aztec ruins of Tlatelolco is a gem of a site with ancient pathways shadowed by pyramids. The hallowed stone ruins of the Prehispanic city is also home to the Square of the Three Cultures, or Plaza de las Tres Culturas. We’ll take a look at this unique landmark, famous for being a crossroads of modern, colonial, and pre-conquest architecture.
Next, we’ll head to the ancient city of Teotihuacan; it is said that the Aztec gods created the universe here. Our local guide will take us through the history of these mystical ruins as we marvel at the most famous Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, and pass through the Avenue of the Dead. We’ll stop by a local family’s obsidian workshop, where we’ll watch them craft objects such as small blades, grinding tools, ancient relics, and other artifacts by using basalt, slate or greenstones.
“I have always been interested in the ways of the ancient world and Teotihuacan does not disappoint. It is amazing… and you can really appreciate the effort and planning it took for this ancient civilization.” – Rick, USA
We’ll then continue our journey to “La Villa”, or the .Basilica of Guadalupe Join the many pilgrims visiting Mexico’s most important religious building – a Catholic shrine with four towers in the New Spanish Baroque style.
“This is not only a pilgrimage site but a very interesting tourist destination. The old basilica’s interior is very elegant and interesting and a bit understated when compared to the Metropolitan Cathedral. I also found the side chapel to be particularly beautiful.” – George, USA
