The luscious natural beauty of this teardrop-shaped island is not only a sight to behold, it’s also packed with wildlife. We’re taking you exploring Udawalawe National Park, a 120-mile sanctuary known as one of the best places in the world to see wild elephants.
Originally created to protect animals displaced by the building of a giant reservoir in 1972, current records estimate there to be at least 700 (!!!) Sri Lankan elephants roaming Udawalawe National Park today. The park is also home to crocs, monkeys, sloth, buffalo, monitor lizards, more than 30 species of snake and over 100 species of birds. Exciting stuff.

In the early afternoon, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation and whisk you away on your Udawalawe safari. You’ll have a full three hours exploring by Jeep, as well as the services of an experienced driver and nature guide. Their expert training allows them to spot animal movement a mile off, so sit back and wait for them to say the word! After you’ve got a real feel for the Sri Lankan countryside, seen countless animals and taken even more photographs, we’ll return you to your accommodation following what will undoubtedly be a highlight of your holiday!
