About
Besides the brilliant beaches and mouthwatering cuisine, Mexico has a multitude of ancient ruins and pyramids for you to discover. In this full day tour, we’ll take you to visit the hidden gem that is the Xochicalco Archaeological Zone – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and pass by the stunning Cuernavaca Cathedral.
We’ll start the day with a pick up from the meeting point or your hotel and make our way to Xochicalco. Along the way, we’ll pass by the famous Cuernavaca Cathedral, said to be one of the oldest churches in the continent! We’ll explore the area, taking in the church’s structure, design, and the many colorful frescoes.
“Another beautiful trip to the town of Cuernavaca. Visited different holy sites with beautiful churches! I recommend stopping for a visit before heading to Taxco.” – Ann, USA
We’ll then continue on our way to Xochicalco, and upon our arrival, will begin the guided tour. While not as famous as the ruins in Chichen Itza and Tulu, Xochicalco is historical UNESCO World Heritage Site with a lot less people. We’ll skip the crowds and learn more about this fortified ancient city as we climb the pyramids, stroll along the plazas, see the museum, and view the myriad displays reminiscent of Mayan culture.
“A real piece of history that we were very happy to have visited. There Is a lot to learn as the site is huge and well maintained. Moreover, the museum is a must-visit before going further in the site. Definitely recommend!” – Sylvie, Canada
After the guided tour, we’ll explore the small town of Xochicalco and stop for lunch (at your own expense) at one of the local eateries. We’ll then head back to Mexico city with our bellies full of delicious food, minds full of knowledge, and camera rolls filled with photos to commemorate the day’s adventure.
