About
Immerse yourself in Mexico’s colorful history, tradition, and culture in this half day tour that will have you exploring the areas of Xochimilco and Coyoacán.
Our first stop is the Xochimilco canals, one of the last remaining vestiges of the impressive water transport system built by the Aztecs. Here, we’ll board a trajinera – a brightly colored boat – and cruise along the waterways, enjoying the beautiful scenery and lively atmosphere. We’ll make a quick visit to the Island of the Dolls and learn the haunting legend of its origins.
Next up is the Anahuacalli Museum, also called the Diego Rivera Museum after its famous founder and Mexican artist Diego Rivera. The museum was built with the intention to display the more than 50,000 pieces of pre-Hispanic art Diego and his wife Frida Kahlo had collected. We’ll wander along the museum and take in the history and culture of Mexico through the varied artistic mediums.
After taking in the beautiful art pieces, we’ll make our way to the charming town of Coyoacan. This pre-Hispanic village was once nominated as the headquarters during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. Today it is known for its colonial architecture and atmosphere. We’ll stroll along the bustling Francisco Sosa Street and admire the rambling 16th century architecture and original layout from centuries ago.
