Experience wonderful Indonesia’s cultural heritage and history on this Yogyakarta City Tour.
We will start our morning with a visit to the Yogyakarta Palace. Known as the Keraton, it is the historical seat of the reigning sultan, served by royal guards. Nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sultan Palace is a splendid example of traditional Javanese architecture. It is a grand complex of elegant pavilions facing Mount Merapi and the Indian Ocean, meticulously planned to reflect a connection of the divine and human realms.
We then stroll to Taman Sari, a beautiful water castle complex of islands, pavilions, and pools. Taman Sari Water Castle is a former royal garden home to a resting area, workshop, meditation area, and unique underground mosque.
Our exploration continues in Museum Sonobudoyo where we will see Neolithic ceramics and bronze sculptures from the 8th century, as well as several forms of wayang kulit (shadow puppets), topeng (wooden masks), and keris (ancient weapons).
After lunch, we go in-depth with our Indonesian immersion through the crafts of batik and silver. We will visit the batik factory at the Tirtodipuran Complex and then the silver factory in Kotagede Regency.
The best way to end our Yogyakarta City Tour isto walk along the iconic and lively 24-hour Malioboro Street. Test your bargaining skills at JalanMalioboro’s big market, where you can buy most of the country’s commodities, including coconut and rattan handicrafts, batik, sarongs, silver jewellery, and food.
