Thonglor Road

Top Culinary experience in Soi Thong Lo

About

Thonglor is also known as Thong Lo or Sukhumvit Soi 55, it is a highly populated road near the hippy district of Ekkamai and Watthan. Over the years, the food culture emerged within Thonglor. Thonglor is also one of the best areas for nighttime fun, as it has shopping, clubs, and restaurants that caters not only local, but regional and international dishes as well. Using their sophisticated dishes, expert cooks armed with new and exciting culinary arts and drinks, a variety of scenery and plenty of social activities, they are able to attract a diverse audience.

Some examples of their restaurants and bars that have raised interest with their local and international cuisine—include seafood, spicy oriental cuisine and spring rolls. There is also a restaurant that opts to serve Western-style dishes, and customers can be entertained by the open kitchen, watching chefs transform ingredients into well-prepared, delicious dishes. For those travellers who like to party hard into the night, there are plenty of clubs and bars available, full of great music and drinks—it’s the perfect way to unwind and enjoy all of the excitement that it has to offer. One such club that remains popular is the Demo Nightclub, which can be mistaken for an abandoned warehouse with its brick walls covered in graffiti, and where the doors are metal shutters. But appearances can be deceiving—Demo Nightclub is actually one of the most fashionable and popular nightclubs, where the young and wealthy pull up with their cars and then dance the night away, more than most other clubs in the area.

The best thing about Thonglor is that their nightlife is easily accessible. Starting from Khaosan Road City Center, you can opt to rent a taxi that will take you to Sois of Sukhumvit 55, where the Thonglor Alleys are linked. Another path travellers can take is from Khaosan Road, heading towards the Thonglor Alley. This is accessible through the Ferry Boat from the Phra Arhlt Pier, going to the Saphan Taksin train station. Once here, you can take a train going to Siam Station, where the Thonglor Alleys can be seen after a short walk. Demo Nightclub is open from 7:00pm to 2:00am and is found in Thong Lor Soi 10. Keep an eye out for the bright lights of Funky Villa, set 30 meters back from the road on the far side of the carpark.

Trip Guru suggests that you take only enough cash with you for the evening and don’t forget to bring along a friend or someone you can trust, and to be careful, as some of these areas can get pretty rowdy.
