About

The Best in Latin America

Five miles off the historic city center is the Guadalajara Zoo, rated one of the best in Latin America. Giving other zoos a run for their money, it houses over 390 different species of animals, with more varieties of species than any other zoo in Mexico.

In exceptional condition and well-maintained, it is one of the best things to do in Guadalajara, especially if you’re travelling with kids. Get the Diamond ticket and you’ll be able to access all the zones of the park, such as:

  • Sky Zoo: Get a bird’s eye view of the monkey, gorilla, lion, bison and wolf habitats aboard a cable car suspended over 15 meters high. It has exceptional panoramic views of both the zoo and the surrounding landscape, such as the Santiago River Canyon.

  • Aquarium: Pass through a glass tunnel inside the aquarium and see the sea creatures from a different perspective.

  • Safari Masai Mara: Get close to giraffes, elephants, rhinos, hippos and ostriches – just like in a real safari!

  • Antarctica Zone: See a group of Adelie penguins here; the exhibit tries to resemble their natural environment in Antarctica, so you’ll be able to briefly experience sub-zero temperatures.

Get there

  • By bus: Take Line 1 of the Macrobús, but you’ll still have to do a little walking into the zoo when dropped off.

  • By taxi: Getting there by taxi is recommended. Don’t worry about the ride back – there is also a taxi area just outside the zoo.

Av. Paseo del Zoológico 600, Huentitán el Alto; Opening hours: Daily from 10:00am-6:00pm
