Sunlit Sensations in Khao Khanab Nam

About

The Khao Khanab Nam Mountains are known as one of Krabi’s most famous landmarks. With limestone cliffs on one side, sparkling shores on the other, peppered with nature and cultural attractions every which way, Krabi is the prime definition of the ultimate beach getaway. If you’re at home seeing sun, sand, surf and sundries—Trip Guru can think of no other place to be than Khao Khanab Nam. These mountains are nature’s very own gateways to Krabi city, and the river that runs between the two limestone cliffs forms a beautiful photograph.

Once you venture inside the mountains, they hide a spiritual secret; the caves have stalagmites and stalactites worth exploring, although it tends to be more popular because of the interesting amount of human skeletons that have been found there, inspiring numerous theories about how they got there. Aside from visiting the gaping maws of the mountains, you can also climb one of them. Before you depart, don’t forget to explore the mangrove forest of Krabi, via a longtail boat and have a chance encounter with various wildlife including birds, monkeys and fish. Don’t miss this chance of a lifetime to cruise through Krabi’s wetland.

Afterwards, try out an amusing fish show with the puffer fish, catfish, black kingfisher and crabs at the Koh Klang Fishing Village. You can also enjoy a leisurely stroll through the island of Koh Klang and see rice fields and spot water buffaloes. This is one of the few areas in Thailand that has been recognized as wetlands of the world and is ranked in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance. Indeed, with all the things to do and sights to see in Khao Khanab Nam, boredom is definitely not on the menu!

To get to Khao Khanab Nam, you’ll need to charter a long-tail boat from Krabi’s Chao Fa Pier. While you’re there, include a trip to visit the mangrove forest and peer into the Koh Klang Fishing Village. Be sure to visit during the daytime to avoid crowds of people, and beat the heat by packing sunscreen, a sun hat and a water bottle to keep you hydrated.
