Lamai Beach
The relaxed side of the island
About
Lamai Beach's nightlife is unique, compared to Chaweng's, its northern neighbor. It offers beautiful coastlines, lush mountains, and forests that are able to draw attention from tourists and visitors alike. Lamai Beach also has some of the best nightlife areas, including go-go bars, Hitech Disco, sports and other forms of entertainment. “While Lamai Beach is more relaxed than other islands, it's still worth the visit, because they have nightclubs and restaurants beside the beach that serve both local and international dishes. They also have a cultural hall and a museum where local arts and crafts are displayed. So if you’re the kind of person who likes to have fun in new and exciting ways, Trip Guru suggest a trip to Lamai Beach.
While Lamai Beach is more relaxed than other islands, it's still worth the visit, because they have nightclubs and restaurants beside the beach that serve both local and international dishes. They also have a cultural hall and a museum where local arts and crafts are displayed. One of the main areas to have a good time lies in the Lamai Central Plaza, located in the center of Lamai. With the street food court, bars and restaurants on each side and a Thai boxing ring in the center, it's definitely a crowd favorite. There's also The Swing Bar, which combines an indoor and outdoor restaurant. It gives guests an option to eat outside or to hang out and drink at the swinging chairs and tables outside of the bar. The classy Lava Lounge features music, drinks, and western cocktails.
From the Samui City Center, you can get a taxi, but the fare will cost around 500 to 800 Baht, depending on negotiation and baggage, if you desire more privacy. Alternatively, you can also choose to take a minibus at the City Center for 100 Baht, and it's a better option for people who want a more budget-friendly ride.
The Central Lamai Beer Bars and other nightlife areas are usually open from 6:00 to 7:00pm, and close up at about 2:00am. Though the beach is generally a safe place, be careful of stray dogs, and wear a helmet when riding a scooter. Look out when walking along the beach and the nearby roads, and make sure to drive on the left side of the road. Drink moderately and don’t drink and drive to avoid unnecessary accidents, especially at night.
