Located in Southside Hong Kong, Stanley is known for its outdoorsy nature and colonial remnants. The seaside village has a laid-back vibe and is a popular place to visit from Hong Kong as a half day trip. If you need to escape the bright lights and bustling streets, it will certainly do the job.

There are a few main beaches in Stanley to include during your Hong Kong trip. The most popular one is Stanley Beach conveniently located close to the center of Stanley and its markets and restaurants. Swimming season runs from April to October and during these months, the beach will be busy with families from around the world. There are loungers and all the usual facilities to hire during peak months but, come off-season, it’s a sleepy beach perfect for walks, nature-spotting and avoiding the crowds.

Another of Hong Kong tourist attractions is Stanley Market, a bustling array of alleyways selling all types of clothing and souvenirs. Whether you’re in the market for silk garments such as kimonos and traditional Chinese costumes or modern sportswear and fashion items, there’s something for everyone at enviable prices.
