Alodaw Pauk Pagoda: Eight gold statues, 15 silver statues and seven pillars of jewels characterise this charming temple. It was one of 84,000 pagodas built by famous King Thiri Dhamma Thawka (Siridhammasoka) in the 11th century &ndash; though sadly only a few remain.

Inn Paw Khon Village: The lotus-growing region of Inle Lake is famed for the exquisite handwoven silk it produces. Lotus silk is only made in this one location, making it an interesting one to explore. Visit a weaving factory to learn about the production process and pick up souvenirs if you wish &ndash; but prepare for them to be pricey as lotus silk is notoriously difficult to make!

Nge Hpe Kyaung: We&rsquo;ll finish the tour at the intriguing &lsquo;Jumping Cat Monastery&rsquo;, a small island on Inle Lake. The monks who once lived at this monastery taught the cats to do tricks, and while they&rsquo;ve now passed away, the cats are still in strong supply. You&rsquo;ll have never seen so many friendly felines in one place before... we hope you&rsquo;re a cat person!
