About

Need a break from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok’s metropolitan center? Lumpini Park offers its 142-acre greenery for you to rest, relax, take part in some leisurely activities, and forget about your stress for the day. And the best part? This public space is free! (See: 10 Things To Do in Bangkok for FREE)

As one of the oldest and largest of Bangkok’s public spaces, Lumpini Park was opened by King Rama VI in the 1920s and is dotted with green pathways, man-made lakes, and local flora and fauna.

What to do

To help guide you, here’s a list of just some of the things you can do in the park:

  • Exercise: You’ll often see early morning or evening joggers, bikers, and rollerbladers using the paths in the park for their daily exercise. There are also classes (some free!) like tai chi, zumba, and aerobics that you can join.

  • Paddle-boating: Get on the lake via swan-shaped paddle boat; you can rent one near the lake.

  • Nature walks: Stroll through the large lush area inspecting the greenery, and say hello to some of the animals that call the park home.

  • Eat street food: Lumpini park has a number of street vendors camped outside the gate by the Rama VI statue, so if you want to sample local Thai dishes, go over and taste test what’s on hand!

TripGuru Tips

  • Operating hours: The park is open from 4:30am to 9:00pm daily.
  • Entrance fee: The park is a public area, and does not require an entrance fee.

Don’t forget to bring your wallet if you plan on sampling some of the street vendor’s snacks! And a camera to snap some of the birds and animals never hurt...
